West End Live is the world’s largest free theatre festival which is now in its sixth year. This summer it will be held at Leicester Square on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th June from 11:00-18:00 and 12 noon-18:00 respectively. More than 200,000 people expected over the two days.
The event is organised by Westminster City Council and supported by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) and offers street entertainment, live broadcasts, arts workshops and interactive exhibitions from some of London’s top museums and tourist attractions.
The 2010 line-up of musical theatre performers is yet to be finalised, but as usual it is likely to feature most of the West End’s major musicals. Last year more than 15 productions took part including Oliver!, Avenue Q, Dirty Dancing, Jersey Boys, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Sister Act, Thriller - Live, We Will Rock You, Wicked, Stomp and Chicago.
