As reported earlier this week, Whoopi Goldberg will be making her West End debut playing Mother Superior in Sister Act for a limited season of three weeks at the London Palladium from 10th-31st August.
She will replace Sheila Hancock whose contract ends this summer and who has played the part since the show opened in May 2009.
It is not yet known who will take over when Goldberg leaves until the show closes on 30th October to make way for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Wizard of Oz which opens next March.
Miss Goldberg has been successful in just about every area of entertainment from film and TV, stage and recording, radio host and best-selling author. Her theatre credits include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on Broadway, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and most recently Xanadu.
Also joining Goldberg are Patina Miller as Deloris Van Cartier (the role Goldberg created in the films), former Blue boy band singer Simon Webbe as Curtis Shanks and Ian Lavender as the Monsignor.
