Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has just directed a tour of the musical Chess which has received rave reviews.
He has just kick started another musical tour of Spend Spend Spend! at the Watermill Theatre which starts touring on 27th September at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford, 4th October at the Oxford Playhouse, 11th October at the Lowry Quays, 18th October West Yorkshire Playhouse, 25th October Everyman Cheltenham, 1st November Richmond Theatre and 8th November at the New Wolsey in Ipswich.
Spend Spend Spend! is set in the 1960s and based on the true story of downtrodden Yorkshire housewife Viv Nicholson whose life is transformed when she wins over £150,000 on the Castleford football pools (this would be worth around £5M today).
Viv told anyone who would listen that she would “spend, spend, spend” her fortune and the tabloids took great delight in detailing all her purchases fur coats, fast cars and diamonds. But it all turned sour and Viv found herself in trouble with the law, lonely and bankrupt by the mid-Seventies.
Revel Horwood presented Spend Spend Spend! at the Watermill Theatre last year and choreographed the West End version in 1998. This new production has a twelve-strong ensemble who act, sing, dance and play their own instruments and features musical arrangement by Sarah Travis and design by Diego Pitarch.
