John Owen-Jones has just finished playing Jean Valjean in the tour of Les Miserables which ended at London’s Barbican Centre on 22nd October.
But he will soon be back on the West End stage playing the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera at her Her Majesty's Theatre from 1st November 2010 until September 2011.
Owen-Jones is a Welsh actor and singer whose musical theatre credits include Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music at the National Theatre with Dame Judi Dench, The Ladies Paradise at the RNT Studio, at the age of 26 he was the youngest Jean Valjean (he had previously understudied the role as well as performing the roles of the Factory Foreman, Feuilly and Grantaire). He also appeared in the10th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 1995 and at the 25th Anniversary Concert at the 02 Arena on 3rd October 2010.
At Regent's Park Open Air Theatre he appeared in The Pirates of Penzance and Much Ado About Nothing. In 2001 he took over the role of The Phantom of the Opera which he played for after three and a half years.
Owen-Jones reprised the role of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables at the Queen's Theatre in London in 2005 for two years when he left to perform the part on Broadway for a year.
