I have been waiting for the New Wimbledon Theatre to announce who is starring in their pantomime Peter Pan this year. But I certainly wasn’t expecting it to be the cult figure David Hasselhoff who starred in the hit TV series Baywatch and Knightrider.
Jerry Springer will alternate with David Hasselhoff playing Hook on 31st December - 8th January & 13th - 14th January.
Hasselhoff famously performed a rock gig standing upon a partially demolished Berlin Wall and has been working with Simon Cowell as one of the judges on America’s Got Talent. He was the first celebrity eliminated from eleventh season of Dancing with the Stars on September 21st this year.
He is joined by Louie Spence who is the choreographer, dancer and star of Pineapple Studios playing Roger the cabin boy.
Maybe his former Baywatch colleague Pamela Anderson has urged him to do it as she starred the Genie of the Lamp in Aladdin at the same theatre last Christmas.
Hasselhoff will be screwing on the hook and donning the pirate’s gear from 10th December to 16th January so will be performing at Wimbledon when it celebrates it 100th birthday on Boxing day.
To quote Hasselhoff : “Peter Pan is a show that has always been close to my heart, as my first theatre role was playing Lost Boy Nibs when I was a child. I am so delighted to be asked to join this British tradition. I know all about pantomime as some of my good friends have already appeared in previous productions. They’ve told me how much fun it is. Get ready London for Hoff The Hook!”
