This year’s London Evening Standard Theatre Awards nominees have been announced. The list covers some of the most high-profile West End shows with a starry list of performers, directors and playwrights alongside some serious new talent.
The shortlist of nominees will be announced a week before to the awards ceremony, which will be held this year on 28th November at the newly reopened Savoy Hotel.
The nominations which include musical theatre references are as follows:
Natasha Richardson Award for Best Actress: Sheridan Smith: Legally Blonde (Savoy)
Ned Sherrin Best Musical Award: Hair (Gielgud Theatre), Legally Blonde (Savoy Theatre), Les Misérables (Cameron Mackintosh 2010production at Barbican Theatre), Passion (Donmar Warehouse) and Sweet Charity (Menier Chocolate Factory; transferred to Theatre Royal Haymarket)
Best Design: Lez Brotherston: The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Vaudeville). Vicki Mortimer: The Cat in the Hat (National’s Cottesloe transferred to Young Vic) and Christopher Oram: Passion (Donmar Warehouse)
Milton Shulman Award for Outstanding Newcomer: Melanie Chisholm for her performance in Blood Brothers (Phoenix)
