Jonathan Ansell, Lee Mead and Ray Quinn possible Jersey Boys?

According to the Mail’s Baz Bamigboye  Jonathan Ansell  is being considered to play one of the Four Seasons in the musical Jersey Boys at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Jonathan is currently touring in Lark Rise to Candleford and prior to that appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind. He is a trained tenor opera singer whose voice would lend itself perfectly to singing Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons huge catalogue of hits.

Ryan Molloy who plays Frankie Valli is staying on through 2011, but Stephen Ashfield who has played Valli’s song-writing partner Bob Gaudio since the show opened two years ago is thinking about leaving in the spring.

It is also rumoured that Lee Mead who is leaving Wicked in January and Ray Quinn who is with Dirty Dancing until the end of May are in discussion about future roles in the show.

All three would too much of a West End leading man overload but it could end up being quite a cast!

Lee Mead is actually leaving Wicked on 5 February!
and I wouldn't put too much faith in what the Daily Mail 'reports'

I knew about Lee's Wicked departure date and have posted another blog retracting the fact that Jonathan Ansell was being considered as he tweeted that he was due to meet the producers but nothing was fixed!

And Ray Quinn is off from Dirty Dancing until further notice with an injured collar bone so his panto is looking doubtful and he's certainly not what I would call obvious casting for Jersey Boys!

I find Baz Bamigboye from the Daily Mail is usually pretty accurate, but it seems there is no truth at all in this story - not even 1 out of 3!
