It has just been announced that a large-scale arena tour of Batman Live will kick off next summer. It will be the first time the Dark Knight has been seen on stage.
The tour will open at Manchester's MEN Arena on 20th July 2011 and visit Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (27th-31st July) Glasgow SECC (3rd-7th August), Sheffield Motorpoint Arena (10th-14th August) , Birmingham NIA Arena (17th-21st August), London O2 Arena (24th August-4th September), Liverpool Echo Arena (7th-11th September), Nottingham Trent FM Arena (14th-18th October), Dublin O2 Arena (29th September-2nd October) ending at Belfast's Odyssey Arena on 9th October.
The live show will feature comic characters Batman and his sidekick Robin, as well as butler Alfred battling against villains including The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman and The Penguin. The action will take place in settings including Gotham City, Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum which are all brought to life with stunts, pyrotechnics, illusions and video screen sequences. Batman Live will also have circus sequences created in association with Circus Space, the UK’s National Centre for the Circus Arts.
