Legendary star of stage and screen Joel Grey is taking part in Children in Need by performing on Friday Night is Music Night at the Mermaid Theatre on BBC Radio 2 on Friday 19th November from 08:00-10:00 pm
Songs by John Kander and Fred Ebb include Wilkommen, Cabaret, Everybody's Girl, Razzle Dazzle, Maybe This Time, A Quiet Thing and New York and New York.
Grey is best known for playing the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret with Liza Minnelli, in both the original stage and film productions for which he won a Tony Award and an Oscar. Joel had a long association with Kander and Ebb including playing Amos Hart in the mid-Nineties revival of Chicago. His many other musical accolades include performing as the Wizard in the original Broadway production of Wicked.
Joining Joel on stage are West End stars Sally Ann Triplett, Tony Hadley, Annalene Beechey, Nicola Hughes and Tim Flavin, plus the 70-piece BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Tony Award-nominee Larry Blank.
