The Spider Man musical is the costliest ever Broadway show at $75M but it has found its way to the top despite injuries to actors, delays in opening, poor reviews and a record-breaking preview period.
The Broadway League reported yesterday that Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark took $2.9M over nine performances last week. This the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history.
That shatters the record held by “Wicked,” which last January recorded a one-week take of $2.2 million over eight shows. Last week “Wicked” took in $2.7 million over nine shows.
