Alexander Hanson, Hal Fowler and Carly Bawden working on Andrew Lloyd Webber's new Profumo Musical

Updated 8th February: At the end of this month a group of musical theatre actors are workshopping the score for this musical. They will include Alexander Hanson as Ward, Hal Fowler as Profumo, Iris Roberts is  Christine Keeler and Carly Bawden will portray Mandy Rice Davies.

Lloyd Webber said: "it’s highly unlikely they will be in the completed show because they’re all booked up to do other things. All we’re doing is putting a bunch of people, who are good sight-readers, around a piano to see what works."

As already mentioned, Andrew Lloyd Webber's is in the process of putting together a musical based on Stephen Ward (pictured) who was heavily  nvolved in the scandalous1963 Profumo Affair.

The  project will reunite lyricist Don Black and playwright Christopher Hampton who were the team behind his  1993 Sunset Boulevard musical.

The New York Post has now reported that  producer Robert Fox and director Richard Eyre have joined the team . There is an invitation only reading in London in March, followed by the usual try out in front of specially invited guests at Lloyd Webber's annual summer Sydmonton Festival.

If it does go ahead it is rumoured that ALW wants West End leading man Julian Ovenden to star.
