Casting for West End showcase of new chamber musicals
Casting has been revealed for a showcase of new chamber musicals, being staged at London`s Garrick Theatre on 4th October.
Luke Bayer (RENT), Euan Bennett (The Play That Goes Wrong), Christina Bloom (Emilia), Haydn Cox (Dear Evan Hansen), Sophie Golby, Ashley Goh (Shift+Alt Right), Emma Harding, Benedict Hastings (Wolf Hall), Sophie Holdsworth, Holly-Ann Hull (Les Misérables), Jade Johnson (The Book of Mormon), Emma Kingston (In The Heights), Emelie Odukwe, Charlotte Payne, (Potted Panto), Maiya Quansah-Breed (RENT), Sharon Rose (Hamilton), Evie Rose Lane (Footloose), Robin Simões da Silva (Bedknobs and Broomsticks), Joe Thompson-Oubari (Squad Goals) and Guy Woolf will all appear in the show, which will feature 15 musical writing teams.
Two of the teams – Annabel Mutale Reed and Leo Munby and Freya Smith and Jack Williams – were selected as winners of producers Katy Lipson and Adam Lenson's Chamber Musical Project, and will now receive further mentorship and aid. Reed and Munby's show is titled Eartha, Eddie and the Upside-Down Tree, while Smith and Williams' show is called Echoes.

Casting for UK tour of Jeff Wayne's musical version of H G Wells' The War of the Worlds
Wayne will conduct the piece with the Black Smoke Band and the 36-piece ULLAdubULLA strings ensemble. The experience will also feature a giant 30-foot tall martian robot, armed with dual fire cannons, alongside a giant 100-foot wide CGI wall. Liam Neeson will again play The Journalist as a 3D holograph.
Advertised as "The Life Begins Again Tour", the piece will star Claire Richards from Steps making her debut as Beth, The Parson's Wife, alongside Strictly Come Dancing's Kevin Clifton as The Artilleryman.
Joining them will be Nathan James as The Voice of Humanity, Blue's Duncan James as Parson Nathaniel, Justin Hayward as The Sung Thoughts of The Journalist and Anna-Marie Wayne as Carrie, The Journalist's Fiancée. Callum O'Neil will also appear as Wells himself.

She has appeared on Broadway as Fantine in LES MISERABLES; Norma in
Victor/Victoria (Drama Desk Award) with Julie Andrews; Marguerite in The
Scarlet Pimpernel; Miss Fancy in Sly Fox with Richard Dreyfuss; and
Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Jonathan Pryce. She
appeared off-Broadway opposite Julie Andrews in Stephen Sondheim's
Putting It Together and in the Lincoln Center Theater production of
Dessa Rose. Most recently, Rachel appeared on Broadway in Disaster! and
Head Over Heels.
Haydn Gwynne (Billy Elliot) will replace Felicity Kendal in the role of Evangeline Harcourt from October 19th.

The original Miss Saigon Lea Salonga announces UK Dream Again tour
Lea Salonga has just announced her 2022 Dream Again Concert Tour which is heading to the UK next June. She last appeared in the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre for the sold-out Miss Saigon 25th Anniversary.
Lea Salonga was aged just 18 when she created the role of Kim in the epic musical Miss Saigon in the West End and subsequently on Broadway. She then went on to be the first actress of Asian descent to play both Eponine and Fantine in Les Misérables on Broadway. She provided singing
voices for Disney's Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan

Extra date added to Boy George's musical Taboo 20th anniversary charity staged concert
Boy George's iconic musical Taboo will return for a special 20th anniversary charity staged concert at The London Palladium on 30th January and 31st January 2022. Produced by Adam Kenwright and co-created with Mark Davies Markham and Kevan Frost, it will be in aid of two charities: The Terrence Higgins Trust and Shelter.
Director Christopher Renshaw will return for the concert. The concert will reunite a variety of stars from the original West End and Broadway productions, members of the original company with exact casting to be revealed.
Set in an abandoned London warehouse, the partly imagined story of a
group of club 'names' set in the location of what was the city's most
fashionable nightclub, the now-legendary Taboo (1985-87) of the title,
which was the creation of Leigh Bowery. Boy George
is featured as one of the club's regulars, but in reality, George
rarely attended. The show also focuses on George's life prior to and
after achieving fame.
Plotting the lives of those who frequented the legendary Taboo club, the show originally featured artistes including Julian Clary, Luke Evans, Boy George, Dianne Pilkington, John Partridge, Matt Lucas, Paul Baker, Declan Bennett, Euan Morton, Lyn Paul and Stephen Ashfield.

Appearing in the show will be Matthew Croke, Glenn Carter, Johnnie Fiori, Carole Stennett, Cavin Cornwall and Emily Bautista, who will be making her London debut after appearing in Les Misérables on Broadway.
Also in the cast are Samantha Mercer, Kayleigh McKnight, Joaquin Pedro Valdes and Shem Omari James. The production will also feature an ensemble composed of Jemima Brown, Chris George, Yuki Abe, Olivia Jones, Ella Martine, HIcaro Nicolai, Prem Rai, and Ebby Sama.
With a score by Gianluca Cucchiara, lyrics by Andrew James Whelan, and book by Michael Conley, the piece is set On another earth, in another time, where nature is revered and life is full of dangers, two tribes are locked in an age-old battle. One has the secret of fire, the other wants it. One young woman must decide: protect the life she knows or burn it down.
The production will be co-directed by Adam Lenson and Eleesha Drennan, who will also take on the roles of dramaturg and choreographer, respectively. The Last Five Years transfers into Garrick from 17th September
The musical details the same relationship in two opposing directions, and will once more unite Oli Higginson (Bridgerton) and Molly Lynch (Sunset Boulevard) for the piece's first significant run of length in the West End. Originally seen in 2001, the musical played off-Broadway in 2002 and was turned into a film starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan in 2014.

Full casting has just been announced for the musical CABARET at the KIT KAT CLUB at the Playhouse in London’s West End.
Joining the previously announced Eddie Redmayne as The Emcee and Jessie Buckley as Sally Bowles will be Omari Douglas as Cliff Bradshaw, Liza Sadovy as Fraulein Schneider, Elliot Levey as Herr Schultz, Stewart Clarke as Ernst Ludwig and Anna-Jane Casey as Fraulein Kost.

Omari Douglas (Cliff Bradshaw) is currently starring in Constellations at the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre.
