Full Company for Chichester's Me And My Girl

The full company has been announced for the upcoming revival of Me and My Girl at Chichester Festival Theatre. The new staging of the musical comedy is directed by Daniel Evans, with choreography from Alistair David and it runs from from July 2nd-August 25th, with a  press night on 9th July.  

Joining the already announced Matt Lucas as Bill Snibson, Caroline Quentin as the Duchess of Dene, Clive Rowe as Sir John Tremayne and Alex Young as Sally are Lydia Bannister, Ronan Burns, Jennie Dale, Jacqui Dubois, Davide Fienauri, Lauren Hall, Siubhan Harrison (as Lady Jacqueline Carstone), Matt Harrop, Victoria Hinde, Melissa Lowe, Dominic Marsh (as The Hon Gerald Bolingbroke), Natasha Mould, Ryan Pidgen, Pippa Raine, Emile Ruddock, Charlotte Scott, Jak Skelly, Monica Swayne, Oliver Tester and Toyan Thomas-Browne. 

The musical is set in Hampshire, Mayfair, and Lambeth in the late 1930s and tells the story of an unrefined cockney gentleman named Bill Snibson, who inherits a fortune when he learns that he is the 14th heir to the Earl of Hareford. It won an Olivier Award and features numbers including "Leaning on a Lamppost", "The Sun Has Got His Hat On", "The Lambeth Walk" and "Me and My Girl"

Clive Rowe joins Alex Young,Matt Lucas and Caroline Quentin in Chichester's Me And My Girl

Updated 13th April:  News has just  broken that Daniel Evans has cast the multi-talented  Alex Young to play Sally Smith.  Her impressive musical theatre credits include  Young Sally, Follies, National Theatre, Carrie Pipperidge, Carousel, ENO / London ColiseumMarge, Promises, Promises, Southwark Playhouse, Ellie May Chipley, Show Boat, New London Theatre & Sheffield,  Bette Midler & Me, Edinburgh Fringe & St. James Studio, Erma, Anything Goes, Sheffield Crucible/ UK Tour  and  Brunhilde, I Can't Sing, London Palladium


Matt Lucas is to make his Chichester debut starring as Bill Snibson in Daniel Evans` revival of L Arthur Rose, Douglas Furber and Noel Gay's Me and My Girl alongside  Caroline Quentin as the Duchess of Dene from July 2nd-August 25th, with press night on 9th July.

Me and My Girl Back in London Next Year?

Fiery Angel are planning a revival of the musical Me and My Girl  for the West End in late 2014/15. They are  a co-producer of The Ladykillers at the Vaudeville Theatre and The 39 Steps at the Criterion.They toured the show around the UK in 2006 and later produced it in 2010 at Sheffield Theatres.

Robert Lindsay played cockney millionaire heir Bill Snibson  in the 1980s with Emma Thompson as "his girl". Other Bills have included Gary Wilmot and Tim Curry and Homeland's Damian Lewis was reportedly in talks to take on the role earlier this year.  When he recently hosted the Evening Standard Awards he said was yearning to return to the musical stage and opened the Awards ceremony with an impressive performance of Leaning on a Lamp Post from the show.

Me and My Girl Doing the Lambeth Walk at Shaftesbury?

The West End transfer of Sheffield Theatres’ hit revival of the "Lambeth Walk musical" Me And My Girl is about to be confirmed with the Shaftesbury Theatre mooted for March. 

The show has been receiving rave reviews and closes at the Crucible Theatre on 29th January.  It currently stars Daniel Crossley (Mary Poppins), Miriam Margolyes (Harry Potter) and Jemima Rooper (Lost in Austen).

Me and My Girl is full of classic numbers including Leaning On A Lamppost, The Sun Has Got His Hat On and the Lambeth Walk.

Me and My Girl revival at Sheffield Crucible

Jemima Rooper and Daniel Crossley are to star as Sally and Bill Snibson in a new version of Me And My Girl, which previews at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre on December 2nd and runs from 9th December-29th January 2011.

Daniel Crossley  has appeared in a number of musicals, including Chicago, Fosse, Hello, Dolly! and Bert in the UK tour of Mary Poppins.

Miriam Margolyes will play the part of the Duchess who is charmed by Bill.

Set in England in 1936 Me and My Girl tells the story of cockney charmer Bill Snibson who discovers he is the heir to a fortune. But will he choose a life of luxury rather than live happily ever after with his girl Sally?

The show's  music is by Noel Gay with lyrics by L Arthur Rose and Douglas Furber.  It was last revived  in London’s West End in 1984 by Stephen Fry with contributions by Mike Ockrent. The famous score includes The Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got Its Hat On and of course Me and My Girl.
