See Be My Baby at Union Theatre in February


Be My Baby is set in 1964 and tells the story of Mary Adams who is just 19 and seven months pregnant. She is sent to a mother and baby home and has to cope with the shame of her pregnancy and realisation that she must give up her baby for adoption. Mary and the other young mums to be find escapism in the girl-groups songs they love including Chapel of Love (Dixie Cups), I Don't Know What To Do With Myself (Dusty Springfield) and You Can't Hurry Love (The Supremes).

Amanda Whittington's Be My Baby was first produced by Soho Theatre in 1998: a year later it featured in the opening season of Soho's new Dean Street venue and then embarked on a national tour.  It is now being presented at the Union Theatre in Union Street, South East London from 9th-27th February.  For tickets telephone the box office on 0207 261 9876
