The musical stage adaptation of the Dreamworks 1998 animated iconic film The Prince of Egypt will open at the Dominion Theatre in the West End next year for a 32-week run from 5th February-12th September 2020, with tickets on sale on Monday 3rd June.
It is an adaptation of the Old Testament Book of Exodus and follows the life of Moses from being a prince of Egypt to his ultimate destiny to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt The film originally starred Val Kilmer as Moses with Ralph Fiennes as Rameses.
The musical will be directed by Scott Schwartz (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and
choreographed by Sean Cheesman (So You Think You Can Dance). It is to feature 10 new numbers written by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), together with 5 of his acclaimed songs from the DreamWorks Animation film, including Deliver
Us, All I Ever Wanted, Through Heaven's Eyes and the Academy Award®-winning When You Believe. It has music and lyrics by Schwartz and a book by Philip LaZebnik (Mulan and Pocahontas).
The Prince of Egypt previously ran at TheatreWorks in California, where it won the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award, and ran in Denmark last year.
